AROMATHERAPY HOLISTIC BODY MASSAGE

Picture of Aromatherapy Holistic Body Massage Massage is a proven, effective therapy, ranging from the lightest of touch through to deep bodywork. Gentle, yet effective deeply relaxing massage styles are used to suit each client’s needs. Often the practitioner’s forearms are used to achieve a gentle and nurturing, soft and flowing, yet deep massage.

Holistic body massage helps remove tension and toxins from tired and aching muscles and encourages the client to release mental, physical and emotional tensions, allowing deep relaxation and the opportunity to ‘chill out’. The circulation is stimulated, thus carrying oxygen and nutrients more effectively around the body. The lymphatic system is also stimulated, nourishing cells and carrying waste products out of the body, helping defend the body against infection.

Clients are required to remove most of their clothing for this therapy and towels are always used to keep the client warm and preserve dignity at all times.

Warm oil is used for the holistic massage and clients can choose to either have an aromatherapy blend or plain carrier oil with no aroma.

It is important that clients advise of any allergies as this may affect which oils are safe to use in their massage. Eg. nuts, citrus fruits.

AROMATHERAPY

incorporates the use of essential oils (concentrated liquid extracts distilled from herbs, flowers, spices, woods and resins) which are highly valued for their healing and medicinal properties and also their perfume (which has stimulating, uplifting and calming effects on the psyche). Essential oils have been used for over 3,000 years for their healing properties by the ancient Chinese and Indian cultures, the Egyptians from the time of the pharaohs, the Greek and Roman civilisations, and since medieval times by the Europeans.

They often have chemical constituents closely related in their molecular structure to those of human cells, tissues and hormones, therefore acting by stimulating and reinforcing the body’s own defence mechanism.

Lavender is the only oil which may be used undiluted on the skin on burns, cuts, grazes, spots, though some people with less sensitive skin find they can use Tea Tree in this way too. All other oils must be diluted with a carrier oil, such as grapeseed or sweet almond oil, before application. Essential oils should not be taken orally and be kept out of reach of children and animals. They are highly volatile so should be kept out of sunlight, in a cool, dark place.

Mrs S Millington, South Yorkshire
“I was at my lowest - stressed, depressed, couldn’t relax and couldn’t sleep. Aromatherapy massage is really relaxing and soothing. I couldn’t believe how much calmer I felt and slept so well. I ended my course feeling relaxed and rested.”
